فلقد كان موقع http://www.codeplex.com/ قيد التجربة من خلال النسخة التجريبية منذ شهر مايو ولقد تلقى 100 ألف زيارة من كل أنحاء العالم. وتحول الاثنى عشر مشروعًا التي بدأ بها الموقع إلى أكثر من 30 مشروعًا.
ولقد صرح جون روزنبرج مدير برامج المصادر المفتوحة بمايكروسوفت لموقع vnunet.com الإخباري أن هذا الموقع بمثابة فرصة أكبر للمبرمجين حتى يتطلعوا على تقنية مايكروسوفت جديدة. حيث يمكنهم رؤية الرمز المصدر واستيعاب كيفية عمله بطريقة أكبر فضلاً عن إمكانية استخدامها في منتجاتهم وخدماتهم الشخصية.
ولقد تمت إتاحة الرمز المصدر ومنتديات إصلاح الثغرات على موقع CodePlex لكل المستخدمين، ولكن يُسمح فقط للمستخدمين المسجلين بتقديم أعمالهم ومشروعاتهم إلى الموقع. وبمجرد مشاركة المستخدمين في الموقع وإثبات جدارتهم كمبرمجين في المشروع، يستطيع الشخص القائد للمشروع وصولاً كاملاً حتى يمكنهم إجراء تغييرات على الرمز المصدر.
